I'm a self-taught Australian-Italian artist based in Sydney. I've been making and selling work since 1990, mostly by word of mouth, and my paintings and drawings are held in private collections in Italy, the UK, the USA and Australia.
I came close to studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, but a change in family circumstances meant abandoning my enrolment and returning to Australia. Social media didn't exist then, so the sales came from people seeing the work and telling others. Families commissioned portraits of their children, and I never thought to photograph them.
For many years a "real job" came first and art took a back seat. Ménière's disease pushed it back further, affecting my health for several years. I'm now in remission, and I have a family. My children are artists in their own right, and my daughter is a skilled illustrator.
I once ran a blog, Wasted Talent Inc, to help other artists build their skills. I closed it because it was taking time away from my own work, and I would rather be making art.
I plan to study formally at the Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney. Until then I work independently, and I don't seek gallery representation.
